Granite Slabs: Where do they come from?

Granite is one of those natural stones that deliver not just strength but a seamless beauty to your project. Be it your house, office or business, granite looks great everywhere.

There is huge effort that goes into mining of the rock and bringing it to end user. At Hilltop Granites, we source our material from the best mines of Brazil and India, famous for their quality, variety and superiority.

It takes anywhere from 28-30 days for the rock to go from the quarry where it has been for an eternity to the doorstep of the wholesaler. Miners blast chunks of stone from mountainsides, using dynamite, chisels and drills. It takes about 24-48 hours to slice one huge block into individual slabs with gang saws. Then the great blocks are sliced into symmetrical pieces, usually rectangles anywhere from 4 by 7 feet to 5 by 9 feet, at thicknesses of around 3/4 inch to 1.5 inches or slightly thicker. As it is sliced, each slab of granite is numbered so the same lots can be matched for any custom work.

Then it takes about 2 days to apply the resin and cure it in the oven. The remainder of the time is spent getting it to the markets.

At Hilltop Granites we have a streamlined process of delivering these slabs to the end users. Our delivery network reaches all across India & the USA.
